Skys Angel Reese makes WNBA history as her mom nervously looks on

There’s more than one history-making rookie in the WNBA.Sky forward Angel Reese entered the team’s Sunday game against the Lynx on a nine-game double-double streak, tied for the longest in league history.

Her mother, Angel, nervously watched while attendance as Reese toed the free throw line at nine points and well over 10 boards to give her a record 10th straight double-double.She passed Candice Parker, who had nine double-doubles in 2015.Reese made the free throw, to a loud crowd reaction in Chicago, as her relieved mother clapped in approval and double high-fived someone in front of her.

The made free throw cut the Lynx lead to 70-62, but unfortunately for the Sky, that’s where the game remained, as they dropped to 6-11 on the WNBA season.Reese finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds on the afternoon, though she was limited to a 4-for-16 shooting performance.Coming into the game, Reese had been averaging 13.5 points with 11.1 rebounds, 4.8 of which are coming on the offensive end.

The Lynx have emerged as one of the league’s best teams, and are now 14-4 on the season, with a game against Liberty at Barclays Center next up on Tuesday....
