Giants fans Daniel Jones contempt followed him outside MetLife Stadium after ugly loss

Daniel Jones couldn’t escape the boos, even as he attempted to leave MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Fans were waiting for Jones by the player’s entrance after the season-opening 28-6 loss to the Vikings and booed and heckled him calling him “Danny Pennies.” The not-so-friendly remarks bookended a day for Jones where he was booed heavily inside the stadium over his rough performance in the loss. In a video posted to social media, one fan could be heard screaming at Jones, “I need a million”Jones, whose nickname is “Danny Dimes,” didn’t appear to react to the heckling as it seemed other fans were also chiding the Giants quarterback. One set of fans was also seen trying to burn their Daniel Jones jersey in the MetLife parking lot in a video posted to social media.Jones, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the Giants in 2023, never appeared to react to the jeers as he walked through a walkway that was fenced off by metal barricades and was flanked by several stadium security guards. During the game, fans didn’t hold back about their displeasure over Jones and the Giants’ effort in the first game of the season. The QB did not perform near as well as the Giants needed, completing 22 of 42 for 186 yards and two interceptions. Jones did not seem to take the booing to heart when he spoke with reporters inside the Giants locker room. “I think it’s our job to give them something to cheer about and to play well, to execute,’’ Jones said.
