A single image snapped inside a Sydney KFC store has sparked a heated online debate.The picture appears to show a large tip jar decorated with butterflies sitting on the counter of the fast food chain.The tin seemingly meant to encourage customers to leave money for staff while waiting for their orders.The act has divided opinion online, with many sharing they were “fed up” with US tipping culture taking over Australia and that it should be stopped.“I really can’t help but think if we succumb to tipping culture we will hurtle towards an American system and we can see that their shiz is falling apart,” one said.“How on earth did tipping culture sneak its way into Australia?” another asked.However, others believed it did not cause any harm and pointed out that many cafes have tip jars without any issues.“At its heart, I don’t see any difference between this and a cafe tip jar.Franchise, cafe, whatever,” one said.Many were quick to point out the obvious differences between how much workers get paid in the US compared to Australia.
