Dexter Lawrence vows to stop Giants Cowboys sack drought: Going to change

Four Giants-Cowboys games have passed by since then.“That’s going to change,” defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence said ahead of Thursday’s matchup.“I feel like we can get after him pretty good.

We just got to hone in on the plan and execute it well.”If it’s going to change, Lawrence is likely going to have to be the main difference-maker.Lawrence had one of the best games of his two-time Pro Bowl career Sunday, willing the Giants to their first win with two sacks, including a drive-stopper on a fourth-and-1 late in the fourth quarter against the Browns.He also forced an intentional grounding on one of his four quarterback hits.“I’m sick of losing to anybody,” Lawrence said when asked about being 1-9 in his career against the Cowboys.

“I don’t hold more weight on one game than the other.They all hit the same.

They all count the same.I want to win regardless.

It doesn’t matter against who or how we win.I just want to win.”The Giants were built in the offseason — with the acquisition of pass rusher Brian Burns — to better combat the vaunted Cowboys and Eagles offensive lines that have given them so much trouble over the years.

But penetrating the backfield isn’t the same as dragging down Prescott.“He’s a big dude.He can run,” Lawrence said.

“He likes to sit in the pocket, but when he evades, he’s also dynamic throwing the ball down the field.We just have to make sure we keep him in the pocket and bring him down.”...
