Jets still pulling for Zach Wilson to revive career with Broncos reset year

A familiar face will return to MetLife Stadium — a place he once hoped to be the answer under center for the Jets.Zach Wilson, who was traded to the Broncos after three failed seasons, will be back Sunday, though he’s unlikely to see the field as Denver’s third-string quarterback.The second-overall pick in 2021, Wilson struggled for most of his Jets tenure, including last season in a failed attempt to carry the team after Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles tear.“I still keep tabs on him, keep in touch here and there,” Aaron Rodgers said Wednesday.“I love Zach, and always looked at him like a little brother, and you know, I enjoyed our time together on and off the field, and I wish him all the success.

I was really happy for him the way he finished up preseason and you know, I think this will be a good year for him to kind of reset and hopefully he gets an opportunity down the road.”Wilson, 25, didn’t have many memorable moments with the Jets, going 12-21 in 33 starts and throwing for 6,293 yards and 23 touchdowns.He was also intercepted 25 times and sacked 113 times.Wilson also had problems that carried into the locker room, including when he showed a lack of maturity after not taking any responsibility for a 10-3 loss against the Patriots in 2022.Wilson entered training camp in a three-way battle for the starting role.
