Exclusive | Embattled Adams officials David Banks, Sheena Wright to marry this weekend as federal corruption probe rocks City Hall: sources

NYC Schools Chancellor David Banks and his longtime love, First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright, quietly planned to get hitched this weekend on Martha’s Vineyard — raising speculation the nuptials are to buffer them from testifying against each amid an ongoing federal corruption investigation swirling around the Adams administration, The Post has learned.“They’re definitely getting married,” said a source close to the chancellor’s office.Banks and Wright — two of Mayor Adams’ top aides — were rumored to be planning a wedding on the Massachusetts island during the summer of 2023 but never sealed the deal, and they’ve been tightlipped about their marriage plans since.Earlier this month, Wright’s elegant West 143rd Street home in Harlem was raided, and her phone was seized. She lives there with Banks, who also has a Queens home, which was raided by FBI agents, too.

His phone was seized as well. The raids’ precise purpose remains unclear, but Adams was indicted Thursday on federal wire fraud and bribery charges. He is the first sitting Big Apple mayor to be indicted by a grand jury.In federal criminal cases, spouses can’t be forced to testify against each other. While Banks and Wright were planning their wedding, Adams on Saturday was attending an event at a Queens church. The Post has reached out to City Hall and the Department of Education. This is a developing story.
