Adams indictment lawfare: Letters to the Editor Sept. 30, 2024

The Issue: Allegations that the indictment levied against Mayor Adams was political in nature.There won’t be a fair trial (“Hear out Adams’ defense,” Sept.27).What Mayor Adams faces is selective prosecution and political persecution.

In short: lawfare.Some upgrades on Turkish Airlines? I didn’t see former Mayor Bill de Blasio get indicted over the roughly $1 billion taken for ThriveNYC.The program was never probed.And what about the One World Campaign fund? Nope, not accounted for either.Adams spoke against President Biden, and he has now been indicted.

So this indictment is a warning to others: Do not criticize the Biden-Harris administrationCarol MeltzerManhattanSo: Hunter Biden was coddled by the FBI and Department of Justice over several charges, while the same government entities did all they could to crucify Mayor Adams.What a country we live in.Remember, if they can do it to him, we disconnected people are also just as vulnerable.Al SmithStaten IslandI can’t say I’m shocked that Adams had the book thrown at him.But I am surprised at how swiftly he was indicted.
