Aaron Rodgers mocked by Vikings Harrison Smith after sack

Vikings safety Harrison Smith made it personal.The former first-round pick hit Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ signature belt celebration after a crucial third-down sack in Gang Green’s 23-17 loss to Minnesota at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday.With three minutes left in the first half, and the Jets down 17-0, Smith had a clear path to Rodgers and sacked him from behind.“An old friend gets him!” Rich Eisen said on the NFL Network broadcast, referring to the 35-year-old defensive back.

Rodgers was sacked three times and hit him nine times against the Vikings.The Super Bowl champ was slow to get up and limped off the field after a third-quarter sack — when his foot got entangled in a pile-up — but he did not miss any time.

Rodgers, who will turn 41 in December, told reporters he has a low ankle sprain.It’s unclear whether he suffered the injury in Sunday’s game, or was dealing with it beforehand.

Rodgers also joked that his body was making a lot of “noises” in the game.Rodgers previously discussed his famous belt celebration — he pretends to strap on a WWE-style belt in games, and explained that it’s bad luck for others to do it.“It just goes to the now-famous adage: don’t do the belt.

Nobody who’s ever done the belt has really had a whole lot of success after doing that,” Rodgers said during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” in December 2022.“So that’s just the way it goes.

The Jets fell to 2-3 with the loss.They host the Bills on “Monday Night Football” in Week 6.
