Relentless Mets pound their way back into NLDS lead

The Mets moved one win away from punching their ticket to the National League Championship Series. Home runs from Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker, along with RBIs by Starling Marte and Jose Iglesias helped lift the Mets to a 7-2 Game 3 win over the Phillies in the NLDS. Sean Manaea pitched seven innings while giving up just three hits and striking out six batters in the playoff victory. Alonso put the Mets in the lead in the bottom of the second when he hit a solo shot to right field followed by Winker’s blast to the upper deck in right field in the bottom of the fourth. Marte’s single in the bottom of the sixth scored two more runs and Iglesias singled in the seventh to drive in another pair of runs.Francisco Lindor drove home the Mets’ seventh run of the game in the bottom of the eighth.
