Fox News pitches second debate to Trump, Harris with election less than four weeks away

Fox News is offering to host a second debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris later this month in Pennsylvania.The conservative cable news behemoth doled out an invite to both campaigns on Wednesday, suggesting Oct.

24 and Oct.27 as potential dates for one last verbal bout.

“With a month to go until the last votes are cast, FOX News Media would like to make one final pitch for a debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump,” the company’s president Jay Wallace wrote in a letter.Trump, 78, has repeatedly ruled out another faceoff against Harris, 59, but the network seems hopeful that it can get him to change his mind.

Fox News proposed having its star political anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum moderate the debate and pitched rules similar to the CNN and ABC News debates, including muted microphones.NBC News had previously jockeyed to host a presidential showdown between the two candidates, but the proposed date was in September.

Immediately following her clash with Trump in Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center hosted by ABC News, Harris called for a second round with him.“When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are ‘I WANT A REMATCH,’” Trump chided on Truth Social last month.
