Steve Cohen and his wife Alex sealed the Mets’ NLDS-clinching victory with a kiss.The Mets owner and his missus celebrated with a kiss on the field after the Amazin’s eliminated the Phillies in Game 4 Wednesday night at Citi Field to advance to their first NLCS since 2015.After making the playoffs once over Cohen’s first three seasons as the team’s owner and failing to win a playoff series, the Mets have now taken out the Brewers and Phillies in the wild-card round and NLDS, respectively, with an eye on fulfilling Cohen’s hope of winning a World Series within the first three-to-five years owning the club.The Cohens hugged hero Francisco Lindor after the Mets shortstop, who has carried the team much of the season, hit an electrifying go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning of the team’s 4-1 win.It was Lindor’s first home run this postseason, and his first since his stunning go-ahead, ninth-inning home run in Game 161 against the Braves that clinched the Mets a playoff berth in one of their wildest games ever.Cohen and the Mets had lowered expectations this season under first-year president David Stearns and rookie manager Carlos Mendoza after failing last season to build off the team’s 101-win campaign in 2022.They made less splashy moves like signing Sean Manaea, Luis Severino and J.D.Martinez, and after a rocky start the team soared in the second half to get into the postseason.And now they await either the Dodgers or Padres to play for a chance at competing in the World Series....
