Drunken monkey! Boozy primate chugs from beer bottle found in trash can

Monkey see, monkey brew.A boozy monkey proved that we’re possibly more alike than once thought after it downed a beer it had scavenged from the garbage as stunned onlookers looked on.A video of the plastered primate is currently blowing up online.In the clip, filmed in Parana State, Brazil, shows two capuchin monkeys sitting on a garbage can as one chugs a brew it scrounged from the trash.At one point, the intoxicated treehopper’s primate pal jumps off the bin, leaving it to enjoy its beer in peace.

The video concludes with the sloshed simian tilting its head bag so it can down the last remaining drops of hooch, prompting the videographer to burst out laughing.While certainly a humorous spectacle, online experts thought the primate’s sudsy siesta was no laughing matter.After the clip went viral online, the Municipal Department of the Environment issued a statement warning people that such activities can be detrimental to the animals’ well-being.They pointed out that while the sight of a monkey drinking beer may seem amusing to some, consuming human food can lead to serious health complications for wildlife.It can also cause the critter to become food-habituated.This occurs when an animal associates vittles with humans and loses its fear of them as a result.
