Davante Adams could end up staying with Raiders in latest trade twist

In yet another twist, Davante Adams may be staying in Las Vegas.The six-time Pro Bowler, who recently requested a trade, has received interest from other teams, but it hasn’t been “phone-is-ringing-off-the hook interest,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.The lack of phone calls has to do with the Raiders’ asking price.The team is seeking a second-round draft pick and additional compensation, as well as someone who is willing to pay all the money left on Adams’ contract without the Raiders taking on any burden, per ESPN.And the Raiders aren’t going to budge as they don’t feel the need to trade the star receiver, the report said.The Bills and Saints are two teams that have inquired about Adams, as well as the Jets, who the Raiders are still in conversations with.They’re also expected to speak with the Steelers while they’re in Las Vegas for Sunday’s game, per ESPN.Adams is also said to be a “big supporter” of second-year Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who was named the starter for Sunday’s game as veteran Gardner Minshew heads to the bench.Despite the Raiders signing Minshew in the offseason to be the starter, Adams has always believed in O’Connell’s game, calling him one of the best quarterbacks he has ever played with, according to ESPN.While Adams will be sitting out for his third game on Sunday with a hamstring injury, working up to play with O’Connell is something still worthwhile to him.Adams is getting close to returning from the injury, per Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, who also said that Adams is “still a Raider.”“When he’s healthy and he can play, we’ll play him,” Pierce said.Adams last played on Sept.22 in a 36-22 loss to the Panthers.
