Lions explore possible Haason Reddick trade with Jets after Aidan Hutchinson injury

A day after the Jets granted Haason Reddick and his new agent Drew Rosenhaus to seek a trade, at least one team has checked in on the situation. Lions general manager Brad Holmes has reached out to check on the Reddick situation, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.The Lions would be a seemingly strong fit for the two-time pro bowler after Aidan Hutchinson, the team’s best defensive player and the NFL sack leader, was lost to a fractured tibia and fibula in a win over the Cowboys on Sunday. However, Detroit head coach Dan Campbell indicated that the GM was merely just doing his homework on the linebacker. The exact level of contact between the two sides is not clear. The situation between the Jets and Reddick has remained at a stalemate, with the latest development being the Jets allowing him to seek out a trade, which team owner Woody Johnson confirmed during the NFL fall meetings in Atlanta this week. The Jets said in August that they had no desire to trade Reddick in, but their position has clearly changed after six weeks into the season. On Monday, Rosenhaus told The Post’s Brian Costello: “We are focused on a resolution with the Jets.” The Jets acquired Reddick in a deal that sent a conditional third-round pick to Philadelphia in April. Finding a trade partner might be complicated for the Jets, thanks in part to a stipulation in the original swap that the Jets would have to send a second-round pick to the Eagles if he was dealt to a team in the NFC, CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson reported.Reddick has been holding out in hopes of getting a new contract in place.
