Caitlin Clark snubbed of another unanimous WNBA honor after Rookie of the Year controversy

Caitlin Clark received yet another WNBA award on Wednesday, and she once again fell one vote short of a unanimous honor. The Fever superstar was named first-team All-WNBA on Wednesday, but the honor didn’t come without a bit of a head-scratcher in terms of the way that she made it onto the list. Clark, 22, received 52 of the possible 67 first-team votes while 14 people used their vote to put Clark second-team All-WNBA. That meant that one voter snubbed Clark altogether, making it the second time that she was not given a clean sweep for a league honor due to a lone voter leaving her off their ballot. Earlier this month, Clark had won WNBA Rookie of the Year earning 66 of a possible 67 first-place votes with the other going to Sky star Angel Reese. It was a mystery as to who voted for Reese and that mystery has been renewed over the fact that she was snubbed by a voter once again. The voting for the WNBA Rookie of the Year is not made public so no one will know who the lone voter was. It’s unlikely that fans will get to know who left Clark off their All-WNBA ballot.“I am incredibly honored to be named Rookie of the Year, but more than that, I am grateful to everyone that supported me throughout this past season — my family and friends, my teammates, the Fever organization and everyone that cheered us on all season.I am so proud of what we accomplished and so excited for what the future holds,” Clark said in a statement when she won Rookie of the Year.Clark started every game for the Fever this year and averaged 19.2 points per game along with a league-leading 8.4 assists and 122 3-pointers, while breaking a number of league and franchise records along the way. ...
