Pirate of the Subterranean: Violent thief dressed as cheap pirate steals mans sneakers in NYC subway

A violent Pirate of the Subterranean plundered a subway.A goateed mugger dressed in a cheap pirate costume pummeled a Bronx straphanger and ripped off his sneakers inside a Bronx subway station – just days before Halloween, cops said Thursday. The violent thief approached a 32-year-old man around 4 a.m.Sunday at the turnstile area of the Brook Avenue subway station and punched him multiple times, authorities said. The attacker – seen wearing a tricorn hat, a patch just above his eye, white button-down shirt, purple vest and red-and-black striped pantaloons – then snatched the victim’s sneakers and AirPods before bolting, cops said. The buccaneer’s attack left the victim with minor injuries, but he refused medical attention. Anyone with information on the still-at-large bandit is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crimestoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on X @NYPDTips. All calls are strictly confidential....
