This calls for a toast!Four Manhattan hotspots were ranked among the 50 best bars in the world, tying London and Singapore for the most gin mills mentioned.Double Chicken Please on the Lower East Side was No.14 on the annual World’s 50 Best Bars list; Overstory in the Financial District was right behind in 15th place; Martiny’s in Union Square placed 24th; and Superbueno in the East Village took 27th.This year marked the third time Double Chicken Please earned a spot on the list and was the first time Martiny’s, opened in 2022, and Superbueno, opened in 2023, entered the contest.“Another year to be grateful for, thank you for all the love and support,” Double Chicken Please, which is known for cocktails like Cold Pizza ($21) and Thai Curry ($22), posted on Instagram.It ranked No.
2 in North America; last year, it was ranked No.1 on the continent.The Lower East Side spot, also known for its fried chicken sandwiches, has a casual front room that is walk-in only and a back room that takes reservations, which open six days ahead at midnight.“True to its name, Double Chicken Please offers a double dose of innovative concepts,” the judges wrote, adding that in the back room is where the “cocktail wizardry comes to life.” In addition to what the 50 Best panel described as “a cocktail list grounded in earthy, herbal flavors,” the 24-seat bar at Overstory, located on the 64th floor of an Art Deco skyscraper on Pine Street, is known for wraparound views of the New York City skyline.
