Hochul says that New Yorkers who vote Republican in the upcoming general election are anti-women, anti-abortion and anti-American (“Who’s Anti-American, Kat?” Editorial, Oct.4).The governor probably forgot that the Republican Party pioneered women’s right to vote, and was the first major party to advocate equal rights and equal pay for women through the National Federation of Republican Women.Also, California then-Gov.

Ronald Reagan signed the “Therapeutic Abortion Act,” which legalized abortion there in 1967.Americans have the freedom to vote for whoever they want and should not be disparaged for making a choice Hochul disagrees with.Her insular attitude is blatantly un-American.Michael HeadleyBrooklynExcuse me, Gov.
