Patrick Roy is known to wear his emotions on his sleeve, and he showed that again during the Islanders’ game against the Penguins on Tuesday when the referees declared a questionable goal call to stand. The Islanders head coach had challenged a goal by Sidney Crosby in the second period after it looked as though the play was offside. A replay of the sequence seemed to show a Penguins player still on the ice and offside as Pittsburgh entered the zone. But despite the video evidence, the call on the ice stood, and Roy became infuriated on the bench as team captain Anders Lee was given an explanation. Roy looked up at the UBS Arena video board at center ice and watched in astonishment as the replay seemed to confirm what he had thought in spite of the official call. The Isles bench boss gestured to the video board and screamed in frustration, getting angrier and angrier as he continued to yell. Roy finally seemed to settle down after a moment and the game continued with the Islanders trailing by one. The Islanders managed to get one goal back before the end of the middle frame on Tuesday night, thanks to Kyle Palmieri’s tally at the 12:21 mark of the second period. Evgeni Malkin put the Penguins back in front just over a minute after the Isles’ tying goal. Down 3-1, the Islanders tied things up halfway through the third period.The Isles were trying to stave off dropping their second consecutive game after falling to the Rangers on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
