Ex-manager Buck Showalter congratulated David Stearns, Carlos Mendoza for Mets success

SAN ANTONIO —David Stearns received plenty of congratulatory messages for the Mets’ season — including one from the manager he fired.Buck Showalter sent text messages after the season to Stearns, the Mets president of baseball operations, and first-year manager Carlos Mendoza to congratulate them on the team’s success.The Mets advanced to Game 6 of the NLCS before losing to the Dodgers.“It was a great gesture from [Showalter],” Stearns told The Post on Wednesday at the GM meetings.
