“It is with a heavy heart and my deepest sadness, surrounded by her family and friends Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14 2024,” he wrote Friday.“Rita and I (Alex) have been together for 16 years and we just got married last year in July.”“We travelled the world and met many people who we consider friends,” Alex added.
“Rita was my bestest friend, my lover and my beautiful wife.Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone even total strangers.”The widower noted that Christmas, which is mere weeks away, was “Rita’s favourite holiday” — but that his late wife was such a giving person that the season “was everyday for her.” Her brother Jim, best known for his string of iconic 1990s comedies “The Mask,” “Dumb and Dumber” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” as well as his award-winning performances in “The Truman Show” and “Man on the Moon,” has yet to comment on Rita’s death.Advertisement
The loss comes five years after their brother John Carrey died of aplastic anemia, a rare blood disease that occurs when the bone marrow is unable to produce enough new blood cells, in 2019.
