Paul George suffers left knee hyperextension in potential 76ers nightmare

The 76ers are likely holding their breath over one of their biggest stars.Paul George suffered a left knee hyperextension in the third quarter during Wednesday’s 117-111 loss to the Grizzlies, the 76ers announced.

He was ruled out for the remainder of the game.George injured the knee during the third quarter when he went up for a rebound, limping as he corralled the ball with his hands.

The concern for George is that he hyperextended the same knee during the preseason, which caused him to miss the first five games of the regular season.When on the court this year, George, 34, has averaged 16.7 points per game, which is a decent drop-off from the rest of his career, where he has averaged 20.7 a night.Before the injury in Wednesday’s defeat, he had just two points and four rebounds in 17 minutes.It has been a disastrous start to the year for the 76ers, who are now 2-12 after the loss to Memphis, just the first game George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey have played together this season.On a positive note for Philadelphia, Joel Embiid did record a double-double (35 points, 11 rebounds) in what was just his fourth game played this season....
