Italian tourist slashed in unprovoked attack near Times Square

An Italian tourist was slashed in the hand by a stranger in an unprovoked attack in Midtown Saturday morning, cops said.The attacker was armed with a “sharp object” when she slashed the 42-year-old victim around 10:40 a.m.in front of 237 Madison Ave.

between East 37th and East 38th streets, about three blocks from Times Square, police said.A citywide alert was issued warning officers to “proceed with caution” and call for backup if they see the suspect, police sources said.

The attacker was described as being in her 30s, standing around 5-foot-7, and wearing a black jacket, purple sweater, black pants, and black and white sneakers.sources said.
