The newly crowned Miss Universe was hit with a wave of criticism after she posted a video online that appeared to show her lip-synching a racial slur included in a Jay-Z song over the weekend.Danish model Victoria Kjaer Theilvig sparked the controversy after mouthing lyrics to “Empire State of Mind” that include the n-word during the nearly 20-second TikTok clip filmed on top of the Empire State Building.“I can’t believe I’m witnessing this in real time,” one social media user commented with another user writing, “Girl WHAT?!.”“Hey so, this is crazy,” another user opined.Another TikTok account argued, “They gonna take that crown.” Some users debated whether she started lip-synching right after Jay-Z raps the n-word in the New York-themed song.“Yall are some haters she clearly was smiling,” a user insisted. Some brushed off the criticism as over the top hand wringing.
“A white woman sings a song by a black man and gets called racist by the woke mob,” a user on X wrote.“She has nothing to apologize about.”Theilvig, 21, won the 73rd Miss Universe final earlier this month in Mexico City after competing against more than 120 other contestants.
She’s the first-ever Danish woman to win the title.Conservatives cheered her victory after last year’s pageant saw a transgender woman from Portugal notch a top 20 ranking while a 22-year-old became the first transgender Miss Netherlands.“Biological & objectively attractive women are allowed to win beauty pageants again,” Donald Trump Jr.
tweeted.“WE ARE SO BACK!!!”Theilvig has been traveling around the Big Apple following her historic win.
She flipped the switch to light the Empire State Building red and white – the colors of Denmark – in commemoration of her win.The Post sought comment from the Miss Universe Organization late Monday night....
