Daniel Jones has zeroed in on top choice for next team with decision looming

Daniel Jones is closing in on his next team. The former Giants quarterback has zeroed in on a “leading” choice for his next team and will be “telling teams tomorrow,” according to NFL insider Josina Anderson. The insider also mentioned that the Raiders are interested in Jones following an injury to starter Gardner Minshew, though it’s unclear whether he is showing any sign of reciprocation. As many as 10 teams have reached out to Jones following his split from the Giants last week, Fox Sport’s Jay Glazer reported. It is believed that Jones is looking to go to a playoff contender and ESPN’s Adam Schefter specifically mentioned the Ravens and Vikings as “two of the likeliest teams to land” the former Giants QB. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport also noted the Raiders as a possible landing spot for Jones on Monday, citing the injury to Minshew. While the Raiders would give Jones an opportunity to potentially jump back into a starter role quickly, at 2-9 the team is far from a playoff contender which could dissuade him from going to Sin City. The Ravens and Vikings are both on the path to the postseason, but Jones would go to either team and serve as a backup. The prospect of Jones going to Minnesota does raise the possibility of the Vikings ending up the homes of two former New York quarterbacks, with Sam Darnold – a castoff of the Jets back in 2021 – serving as starting QB there after J.J.McCarthy suffered a season-ending injury. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell spoke glowingly about Jones on Tuesday when speaking with reporters, telling them that he has “tons of respect” for the Giants’ 2019  sixth overall pick. “I got to know him through the draft process years ago,” he said.
