Mia DeCamilla, an 8-year-old cancer survivor, said she is “feeling great” after being pushed down a set of stairs at Highmark Stadium during a snowy clash between the Bills and 49ers in Buffalo on Sunday.In an interview with WKBW, an ABC affiliate in Buffalo, Mikey DeCamilla recalled his daughter, a 49ers fan, slipping down the stairs and falling into the lap of a 49ers fan after she was pushed by a male Bills fan, who he described as belligerently drunk, in the third quarter.
DeCamilla said Mia, a two-time survivor of liver cancer, hit her rib cage on the seat, and the family left the game after that.“We got there a little early,” DeCamilla said.
“I knew it was snowing, we’re from Rochester, it takes about an hour and a half.From the beginning, these folks behind us — I don’t know if it was the same guy or not, I didn’t pay attention — but they were, on purpose, throwing snowballs at Niner fans.
They even said it out loud, ‘We’re going to be hitting Niner fans in the head all game.’“He goes ‘Well, I’m going to barrel through these Niner fans anyways.’ So, he’s coming up and he just starts to barrel through and push people out of the way.He kind of tried to bump into me and got past me, when he got past me, it was Mia and he pushed her in the side, which she slipped down the stairs because of the snow…and ended up hitting her rib cage on the seat.”DeCamilla, who previously described the fan as being 6 feet tall, recalled him antagonizing nearby 49ers fans.
He also said the fan barreled past him and his son before he pushed Mia, who is less than 100 pounds, to the side.Mia reached remission for the second time in May 2023.“I am feeling great,” she said.“I hope that the Bills realize that there’s an issue and you need to have security and make it more a family atmosphere and family event rather than a party house.”Mia shook her head no when asked if she will ever return to Highmark Stadium to get a full gameday ex...
