Coco Jones is checking New York’s biggest holiday traditions off her list this year.First, the R&B singer performed her Grammy-nominated single “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last week — in the pouring rain.“My toes are frozen, but I was thankful to perform,” she told The Post.And now, she’ll be singing tunes from her new Christmas EP “Coco by the Fireplace” at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony Wednesday alongside host Kelly Clarkson and a star-studded lineup, including Jennifer Hudson, the Backstreet Boys, Little Big Town, Dan + Shay, British breakout Raye and more.No doubt, she’s living out the dreams of a little girl who wore out one very special Christmas gift.“One of my younger Christmas gifts was a Barbie karaoke machine,” recalled Jones.
“I literally broke it from overuse.It literally got played out.”It was a prophetic present for Jones, who has gone from Disney Channel darling to Grammy-winning diva this year.
And, before she releases her long-awaited debut album in 2025, she got into the holiday spirit with her new EP.“I was still working on my debut album, but the songs kind of just found their way to me,” said Jones.“It kind of just all aligned over the last month.
When things like that happen, you just go with it.”“Coco by the Fireplace” features four original holiday tunes, including “Call on Christmas” and “String of Lights,” which Jones will perform Wednesday night.Passing over the standards, the Tennessee native wanted to put her own “modern R&B” spin on the season.“I feel like it’s hard for me personally to find Christmas songs that are a little bit more like my style,” she said.
