For the Rangers, there was good news out of Hartford on Sunday. Brennan Othmann shed the cast he’d been wearing on his wrist/forearm and skated in a non-contact jersey with his Wolf Pack teammates.It is a positive development for the 21-year-old forward, who went down just three games into the AHL season. Originally projected to miss 4-6 weeks in October, Othmann was then updated to be on pace for a return around Christmas time. In the wake of the Rangers’ downward spiral, it’s an opportune time for Othmann to be rejoining the Rangers mix.
Despite having a training camp that was overshadowed by other rookies, Othmann competed in the Rangers’ final exhibition game and was among the last rounds of cuts. He was battling a nasty cold at the time, which surely hampered his performance. ...
