Macaulay Culkin considered buying $5 million Home Alone house and turning into a fun house

Kevin McCallister never changes.McCaulay Culkin revealed that he considered buying the “Home Alone” house when it went on the market in May for $5.25 million.“I had half a mind to buy it — just for giggles,” the 44-year-old actor recently said at the Rosemont Theater in Illinois at the screening of the 1990 film, according to the New York Times.Culkin added that he wanted to turn the house located in the Chicago suburb of Winnetka, Illinois, into a “movie fun house” where people could sled down the stairs like Kevin did in the movie.As for why he didn’t ultimately purchase the home, Culkin said, “I got kids.

I’m busy, man.”The actor has two sons, Dakota, 3, and a 2-year-old whose name hasn’t been revealed, with fiancée Brenda Song.The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home from “Home Alone” hit the market for the first time in 12 years in the spring.It sold in June after one week on the market.The 9,126-square-foot residence that was built in 1921 features a sunroom, a huge “sport court” in the basement, a fully equipped gym and even a state-of-the-art movie theater.The home has only been sold twice since the iconic film was released.Over 30 years later, Culkin is doing a multi-city tour, A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin, where he’s celebrating the film franchise that made him famous.He said at the Rosemont show that his relationship with “Home Alone” was “kind of a curse and a blessing” at the time, but his perspective has changed now that he’s a parent.“I look at the movie differently now because of that,” he explained.

“I watch it through a different lens — I watch it with them.And they have no idea who they’re sitting next to.”While Culkin cherishes the “Home Alone” movies, he did miss a recent reunion with some of his former co-stars.
