Three’s a crowd when it comes to visiting the in-laws.A Northern Colorado throuple that has gone viral for their unusual arrangement admits that it can be super “awkward” going home for Christmas.“As a throuple, we sometimes face challenges with family during the holidays,” Alana, 27, one prong of the relationship ménage à trois, told Jam Press.The sticky situation began after she and Kevin, 33, who had been dating for five years, decided to tack on a third musketeer so the latter could explore her “bi-curiosity.” So they joined threesome dating app 3Fun — and that’s when they met Megan, 37.The budding trio quickly hit it off and formed their current triple-header, which they now refer to as “Camp Throuple” on Instagram, where they boast over 200,000 followers.And while the polyamorous lovebirds — who share a king-sized bed — have managed to triple their fun, they’ve also had some issues, such as visiting three sets of in-laws come Christmastime.They regularly experience “misunderstandings and awkward moments from those less familiar with our relationship,” according to Alana.“It’s definitely all eyes on us whenever we attend a festive event together,” said Alana.
“Whether people already know about our relationship or are just meeting us for the first time, you can often feel the tension in the room.”Fortunately, they’ve devised a way to avoid the Yuletide stress — by doing their Xmas visits digitally.“Since we live in another state, we don’t spend the holidays with our families in person,” said Alana.
