Tedy Bruschi doesn’t seem too happy about Bill Belichick’s move to North Carolina.During Sunday’s “NFL Countdown,” the former Patriots linebacker and current ESPN analyst shared his thoughts on Belichick venturing to college football.Belichick was announced this week as the newest head coach for North Carolina less than one year removed from the end of his long-time role as head coach and defacto GM of the Patriots.
Bruschi, who played for New England from 1996-2008 and spent some of those years under Belichick — didn’t hold back, expressing concerns about a legendary NFL coach transitioning to a lower-profile role.“What are we doing here?” Bruschi questioned.“Bill Belichick coaching at North Carolina? College football is not where I want to see him.
There’s only one bowl game I want to associate with Belichick, and that’s the Super Bowl.”A seemingly bummed Bruschi added, “I don’t want to see him on the sidelines for some ‘Lawnmower Bowl’ in December or January.That’s just not who he is.”Bruschi also highlighted the unique value the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach could bring to struggling NFL franchises, as opposed to the ACC, North Carolina’s conference.
“I don’t know how there wouldn’t be interest from NFL teams to bring in Belichick.He makes you immediately relevant and incredibly well-coached,” Bruschi added.
“Would he turn a team into an immediate contender?
