Mets sign utilityman Jared Young as depth move in free agency

The Mets added a utility depth piece Monday, when they announced the signing of Jared Young to a major league deal.The 29-year-old Young has played just 22 games in the majors — all with the Cubs and split between 2022 and ’23 — and split his time in Chicago between first base and the outfield.Young, a left-handed hitter, spent much of last season playing in South Korea.Sign up for Inside the Mets by Mike Puma, exclusively on Sports+ Please provide a valid email address.
