Josh Allen played most of season with fracture as Bills star sits in drivers seat for MVP

Josh Allen is the MVP favorite, and that’s perhaps just his second most impressive feat of the season thus far.NFL Network reports that Allen has played most of the season with a fractured non-throwing hand, thanks to an injury he sustained rushing for a touchdown in Week 1 against the Cardinals, though he is now considered healthy.Allen, 28, has played so well that you wouldn’t be able to tell he was dealing with an injury; he has 25 passing touchdowns against just five interceptions to go along with 11 rushing touchdowns for the 11-3 Bills.

The injury occurred on an Allen run to the goal line, where he did a Superman-like leap to get into the end zone.He was hit in midair by Cardinals defensive tackle Justin Jones, and Allen planted his hand down on the ground to brace his fall.

Allen doesn’t appear to give his hand even a little look as the play ends and he celebrates his touchdown.The Bills won that game, 34-28, while Allen rushed for two touchdowns to go along with two passing touchdowns.

The star quarterback hasn’t even been wearing a protective brace on his hand during games but has worn a glove.Buffalo has ridden on the back of Allen, who has semi-divisively moved to NFL MVP favorite status by a wide margin, while last year’s MVP, Lamar Jackson, has slightly better statistics, although his team hasn’t quite enjoyed the same success.Jackson already has a career-high 37 passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns.

Allen and the Bills are still in the hunt for the first-round bye that is currently held by the Chiefs (14-1).The Bills host the Patriots on Sunday....
