Malik Nabers injury clouds Giants rookies status for Colts game

The Giants did not practice on Christmas, as players were given the day off. If they did hit the field, though, Malik Nabers would not have participated, as he is dealing with a toe issue.That is the projection the Giants released on Wednesday.Nabers did not take part in Tuesday’s practice, which consisted of full-speed individual drills and a one-hour walk-through. The adjusted schedule for the holiday week meant the Giants practiced a day earlier than usual — Tuesday is the normal day off for players — and thus it came as no surprise that several players were held out.The Giants (2-13) face the Colts (7-8) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, taking into the game a 10-game losing streak and hoping to avoid becoming the first team in NFL history to go 0-9 at home in a season.Nabers was one of seven players projected to be on the side if the Giants worked on Wednesday. The others were RB Tyrone Tracy (ankle), C John Michael Schmitz (ankle), LB Micah McFadden (neck), DL Cory Durden (shoulder), DB Raheem Layne (knee) and DB Greg Stroman.Nabers has missed practice time frequently this season but has played in all but the two games he missed in concussion protocol in Weeks 5 and 6.Players projected to be limited in practice were: S Dane Belton (knee), LT Jermaine Eluemunor (wrist), QB Drew Lock (right shoulder), CB Dru Phillips (knee), DL Jordon Riley (knee) and DL Armon Watts (shoulder).Two offensive linemen, Austin Schlottmann (fibula) and Aaron Stinnie (concussion) were projected to be full participants. Schlottman could make his Giants debut on Sunday, starting at center if Schmitz is unable to play....
