Seinfeld and Ace Ventura actor John Capodice dead at 83

Actor John Capodice, best known for his roles in “Ace Ventura” and “Seinfeld,” died Monday at age 83.The actor’s death was revealed on the New Jersey’s Pizzi Funeral Home website, who described Capodice as a “devoted husband, father and grandfather.”The tribute added that he will be “missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.”A cause of death has yet to be announced.During his decades-long career, the Chicago native appeared in a slew of high-profile shows and films, including “Ace Ventura” alongside Jim Carrey.In the hit 1994 film, Capodice played a police officer who was dismissive of Carrey’s pet detective.The actor also starred on “General Hospital” from 1994 to 1996, playing Carmine Cerullo in six episodes of the soap opera.He also worked on “Seinfeld,” appearing in the seventh episode of the show’s second season, titled “The Revenge.”In the episode, he portrayed Vic, the laundromat owner, who has one of his machines destroyed with cement by Kramer after he and Jerry suspect Vic stole money.Born on Christmas Day in 1941, Capodice served in the US Army in Korea from 1964 to 1966.

After returning home, he launched his acting career in the late 1970s.Capodice boasted other acting credits, including roles in “Wall Street,” “The Doors,” “Honeymoon in Vegas” and “Independence Day.”He also appeared on “CSI,” “Law & Order,” “Will & Grace,” “Melrose Place,” “Mad About You,” “Six Feet Under,” “The West Wing” and “Murder, She Wrote.”However, his first TV role was in “Ryan’s Hope” where he appeared in six episodes as Lloyd Lord.Morning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.
