ISIS terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar had decorated US Army career including anti-terror medal

ISIS-supporting New Orleans terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar was lauded with a ton of medals during his career in the US Army — including a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.In the years before he unleashed his deadly New Year’s Day attack, the 42-year-old Texas native earned 23 honors, including medals, ribbons and badges, according to records and reports.Among them was the Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.At one point, Jabbar was bestowed the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, which was created to recognize members deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks, TMZ reported, citing an Army spokesperson.

Personnel can still be eligible for the medal even if they serve in a non-deployed status — whether they’re stationed at home or overseas, according to the service. He was also awarded a Driver and Mechanic Badge — an honor recognizing motor vehicle operation and maintenance skills, according to the outlet.Jabbar joined the Army in 2007 and served on active duty in human resources and information technology early in his Army career before being deployed to Afghanistan between 2009 and 2010, according to his records.He then transferred to the Army Reserve in 2015 before leaving in 2020 with the rank of staff sergeant, the service said.

Details on Jabbar’s decorated military career have been emerging in the days after he wreaked death and destruction in New Orleans when he rammed into revelers on Bourbon Street with a pick-up truck at about 3 a.m.on New Year’s Day – killing 14 people and injuring dozens more.Jabbar had posted a barrage of deranged videos on social media confessing his alignment to the Islamic terror group and expressing a desire to kill just minutes before the carnage, the feds said.

“This was an act of terrorism.It was premeditated and an evil act,” FBI counterterrorism official Chris Raia said Thursday.
