Aubrey Plaza had been announced as a presenter at the 2025 Golden Globes — shortly before the death of writer-director husband Jeff Baena on Friday.The 40-year-old actress was due to take the stage during Sunday’s show, along with Glenn Close, Demi Moore, Nicolas Cage and others.Plaza’s presence at the 82nd annual awards is now considered to be highly unlikely, the Daily Mail reported.
The millennial icon, who shot to stardom in the sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” received her first Golden Globe nomination in 2023 for her work in “White Lotus.”Plaza has not yet made any public comment regarding the sudden and tragic loss.Reps have not yet responded to requests for comment made by The Post.The couple began dating in 2011 and were married in 2021.
Baena was discovered at his home in Los Angeles on Friday morning by an assistant.The director was pronounced dead at the scene with law enforcement reportedly saying he died by suicide, The Post reported earlier.While known as a private person, Plaza has occasionally spoken lovingly of her late husband on social media.In May 2021, Plaza referred to Baena as her “darling husband” in an Instagram post.“So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to Italia to cause some more trouble,” the caption read.Their marriage was said to be a spontaneous event.
