Russia getting what it deserves in new Kursk counterattack, Ukrainian officials say

Ukraine has launched a new counterattack against Russia’s Kursk region on Sunday, warning Moscow it’s “getting what it deserves.” Ukrainian forces have renewed their efforts in Kursk with a new wave of attacks to repel Russian forces as Moscow struggles to reclaim the territory Kyiv is currently occupying following their successful surprise counter-invasion last August.“Kursk region, good news, Russia is getting what it deserves,” touted Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office.

The Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation confirmed Sunday’s latest strike against Moscow’s forces, which have recently received reinforcement from North Korean troops.The Russian Defense Ministry said one of Sunday’s battles took place in the village of Berdin, some 10 miles from the border, with the Kremlin allegedly repelling an assault from two Ukrainian tanks and 12 armored vehicles, according to the state-owned TASS news agency.Ukraine and Russia’s claims could not be independently verified.

Pro-Russian military bloggers, which have become a key source of information about the battle along the frontlines, claim Ukrainian tank units and armored vehicles were also fighting Russian forces in the Sudzha district, another city near the border.Col.

Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi, a press officer for the military commandant’s office in Kursk, accused Russia of systematically destroying the border village “floor by floor, block by block,” as it prepares for a full assault against Kyiv’s troops that is already catching Moscow’s own citizens in the crossfire, CNN reported.“There are currently approximately 2,000 people there,” Dmytrashkivskyi said about the occupied Russian citizens who have yet to be evacuated due to the bombardments.
