Naomi Osaka revealed she and rapper Cordae have broken up after five years together.The tennis star explained that there is “no bad blood” between the pair, who share a 1-year-old daughter, Shai, in a note posted to her Instagram Story.
“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” Osaka, 27, a four-time Grand Slam champion, wrote.“No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad.
Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”Cordae, 27, has yet to publicly address their split.Osaka revealed the news after she withdrew from the final of the WTA Auckland Open with an abdominal injury on Sunday.The former world No.
1 was leading Denmark’s Clara Tauson 6-4 when she couldn’t continue.Tauson won the title as a result.Osaka and Cordae starting dating in 2019, and their first date took place at Staples Center for a Clippers game.The pair went on to welcome their daughter in July 2023.
Osaka and Cordae were the subject of breakup rumors three months later when Osaka deleted any trace of their relationship on her Instagram in October 2023.The ex-couple appeared in GQ’s “Modern Lovers” issues together in February 2021, and explained that they preferred to keep their relationship private.“We were dating for almost a year before people knew about us,” Cordae told the magazine.
“So we kind of move very reclusively.We don’t really post intimate moments, because I feel as though they’re sacred.
A relationship is really a sacred thing.Once you let outside influences get into it, it becomes less sacred.”Osaka described the Grammy-nominated rapper as being very “romantic” at the time.
