They were “hedging” their bets as to what it would be.A UK couple was taken aback after discovering an old stone outhouse concealed in the backyard of their new home, as detailed in an Instagram video with millions of views.“So turns out we bought an extra building that we didn’t know about…love a bit of buy one get one free though so I’m not complaining!” the pair, Ben and Rebecca, gushed in the caption.The Cornwall-based lovebirds had reportedly discovered the bonus building shortly after moving into the domicile in July.The incognito lavatory wasn’t on the plans, and they likely wouldn’t have found the hidden gem if it weren’t for their pets, which helped them “flush” it out.“When we moved in, we noticed that the dogs kept disappearing under this overgrown hedge, and we didn’t know what they were up to or where it led to,” the Brits told Newsweek.
“We assumed it was just a retaining wall or fence but wanted to make sure it was secure so that the dogs couldn’t escape, and that there were no hidden hazards.”With their curiosity piqued, the couple decided to pull back the plant curtain.In the clip, Ben can be seen trimming the shrubbery, which blankets the building like a structural sniper suit.He bushwacks through the roughage to reveal a stone wall and a storage shed with a ladder, scrap lumber, and a roof shrouded in years of ivy growth.They discovered that the camouflaged building, which was attached to the garage, was an outhouse with a “little door, a brick-built toilet and toilet roll holder still in place,” the couple said.While having an extra bathroom might boost the home’s resale value, the pair has yet to use the forested facilities for themselves.
