Jason Kelce did not take late night to new heights for ESPN.The ratings for the debut episode of the former Eagles center’s Friday night/Saturday morning talk show, “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce,” were “not particularly good,” in the words of Puck sports business expert John Ourand.The first episode, which aired at 1 a.m., drew 290,000 viewers, Ourand reports.Two weeks prior, as Ourand noted on X, the same time slot had 700,000 viewers, but that came after the Notre Dame-Indiana College Football Playoff game, which led to more people keeping ESPN on deeper into the night.During the same time slot last year, ESPN had 436,000 viewers, according to Ourand, though it’s unclear what was airing at that time.The hourlong show will last five episodes, which are being taped at Union Transfer, a music venue in Philadelphia.Kelce’s wife Kylie, who has also gained popularity in recent years, appeared on the debut episode and Charles Barkley was among the guests.Kelce, 37, joined ESPN after retiring from the NFL last year and is an analyst on “Monday Night Countdown.” He’ll also contribute to the network’s playoff coverage.He co-hosts the popular “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Chiefs star Travis Kelce, whose profile has grown exponentially since he began dating Taylor Swift.The elder Kelce played his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles and was part of the Super Bowl-winning team seven years ago.He made seven Pro Bowls and earned six first-team All Pro nods....
