The baby names that have fallen out of favor in 2024 have been revealed, with one dropping a whopping 14 spots.BabyCentre, a UK organization, tracks the top 100 boys’ and girls’ baby names in the UK throughout the year to compile the list.It revealed that some names had fallen out of favor from the previous year.Many of these dropped at least 10 spots from 2023.For girls, Amelie went down 12 places from the year before to land at number 94.
The name Lucy fell 11 spots to 95.The names Nova and Lilly have completely fallen out of the top 100.Meanwhile, for boys, the name Jaxon fell 14 spots to 64 and the name Austin tumbled 13 places, now sitting at 91.
Jason also fell completely out of popularity.But, to take their places, names such as Margot, Gabriella, Matthew, and Elliot rose through the ranks.There wasn’t much change at the top.Olivia and Muhammed took out the top spots.
The boy’s top 10 remained the same.The top five boys names include Muhammad, Noah, Theo, Leo, and Oliver.Meanwhile, the girls top five included Olivia, Amelia, Lily, Isla and Ava.Trends also emerged in the list.
Close to half of the names on the girls’ list ended with an A.These included names such as Emma, Ariella, and Gabriella.
Meanwhile, in the boy’s top names, there was a “growing trend” of both short and long versions of the name.For instance, Theodore, Theo, and Teddy.
Similarly, Thomas and Tommy, Oliver and Ollie, and Alexander and Alex made the list.Another trend in the boy’s list is using last names as first names.BabyCentre gave examples such as Hunter, Hudson, Mason, and Logan.
Many of these are “American-inspired” names that evoke “a sense of individuality”....
