And the support is needed now more than ever, Liz Lin, president of the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, told The Post.“We’re entering day three of the fire and everybody’s starting to get tired,” Lin said.“We’re in it for the long haul,” she added — saying that the LAFD and other responders likely have at least another month’s worth of work ahead of them.Lin’s organization is currently collecting emergency funding for supplies that City of Angels firefighters need most — as they continue the grueling battle against the harrowing blazes.At this time, Lin explained, the LAFDF are using donations to acquire more fire shelters — aluminum tent-like coverings low to the ground that firefighters can burrow in for safety in dire situations.
Money sent will also help the support organization buy hand tools like rakes and shovels for brush fires.Hydration backpacks for firefighters are also needed, according to Lin.The foundation is just one part of a vast network of groups collecting funds for supplies and services — to the point that it can become disorienting to those trying to help.
