Bill Hader volunteers to help news crew cover LA fires before discovering his Palisades home was spared from deadly blaze

Bill Hader gave a local LA news crew covering the LA fires quite a surprise. On Thursday morning, a team from LA’s ABC 7 news was out in the Pacific Palisades — one of the areas hardest hit by this week’s wildfires — when they came across a man trying to return to his home after the blaze tore through the area earlier this week. His face obscured by a mask (air quality in LA has been horrendous since the fires began raging), the man told the group of journalists he wanted to ride with them and help report on the disaster.

The news team was taken aback when the seemingly random civilian turned out to be actor Bill Hader.Reporter Josh Haskell, who was among the ABC 7 crew, broke the story in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) Friday morning, describing it as an experience unique to the City of Angels.“An only in LA moment on Thursday at road block for #PalisadesFire,” Haskell captioned a photo of Hader giving a peace sign while wearing his face mask.

“Resident trying to gain access came up to news van as if he was part of our team, wanted to help cover, ride with us.Then, he pulled down his mask, smiled and it was Bill Hader!” the reporter wrote, adding that the “SNL” alum “couldn’t have been nicer!”A rep for Hader confirmed to The Post that Hader’s house was spared by the fires, and he was able to return home briefly on Thursday.

Measuring approximately 4,300 square feet, the two-story residence boasts five bedrooms with four full and two half bathrooms.Photos of the house taken on Thursday show the house to be almost entirely unscathed, with only some bushes and trees in the front yard appearing singed by flames. The home of one of Hader’s neighbors was also left standing.

Houses on the other side and behind Hader’s were not so lucky....
