Jennifer Garner is chipping in.On Friday, the actress, 52, partnered with World Central Kitchen and Chef José to feed firefighters and evacuees from the Los Angeles wildfires at the Jack in the Box in Altadena.Garner was pictured chatting with other volunteers and stopped to take a selfie with those who came out to the food truck to receive a meal.
Dressed casually for the occasion in jeans, a zip-up sweatshirt and baseball cap, the “13 Going on 30” star carried a box of food from the truck out to those waiting.The mom-of-three resides in Brentwood, the neighborhood next to the Pacific Palisades, which has been largely destroyed by the Palisades fire.She says her house has been unaffected by the blaze, but with wind conditions subject to turn at any time and the fire largely uncontained, the actress isn’t out of the clear.
Earlier on Friday, during an interview on MSNBC, Garner revealed she has lost a friend in the blaze. The “Alias” alum told anchor Katy Tur that a friend she knew through church had passed. “I did lose a friend, and for our church, it’s really tender so I don’t feel like we should talk about it yet,” Garner told the journalist, choking up.“I did lose a friend.
She didn’t get out in time.”The death toll from the Pacific Palisades and Eaton fires the past few days officially rose to 11 on Saturday and has now collectively scorched over 35,000 acres and counting.“My heart bleeds for my friends,” Garner continued.“I mean, I can think of 100 families, and there are 5,000 homes lost.
