The Jets have interviewed 13 candidates for their vacant general manager post and nine for their opening at head coach, with more to come. On Tuesday, a 10th candidate for the head coach job emerged when it was reported by the NFL Network that they have requested an interview with Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. For the 46-year-old Whitt, who’s in his first year with Washington, this will be his first interview for a head coach job. Interestingly, the Jets on Jan.11 interviewed Washington assistant general manager Lance Newmark for the team’s vacant general manager position. Washington plays the Lions in the NFC divisional playoff round Saturday night, so Whitt cannot be interviewed until the Commanders are out of the playoffs. Whitt joined head coach Dan Quinn in Washington after spending the prior three years as the pass game coordinator and secondary coach with the Cowboys, where he also worked with Quinn.
