Ohio State kicks TikTok star off team ahead of national championship game

Social media star and Ohio State walk-on Caden Davis was dismissed by the Buckeyes, according to a report from the university newspaper The Lantern. Davis, a defensive lineman who amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across TikTok, X and Instagram with behind-the-scenes videos of life as an Ohio State football player, never played a snap for the school. The sophomore confirmed the news on Instagram, thanking Buckeye Nation. “Being a buckeye has always been a dream come true of mine since being a kid.I am so very appreciative to the coaches, staff, and players for welcoming me into the team,” Davis wrote. “I truly cannot thank them enough for allowing me to live my dream for the last 2 years and mentoring me the way they have.

With changes in the NCAA and personal career reasons I will not be a PWO at the OSU.I appreciate the support of everyone and your help to respect my privacy about the decision made.

Thank you, Go Bucks.”The school hasn’t gone public on why they let Davis go. Davis’ status with the team came into question last week when he posted a supposed video of Ohio State’s trip to AT&T Stadium for the Cotton Bowl against Texas. The footage appeared to come from the Buckeyes’ Cotton Bowl game in late 2023 – not the game on Jan.10 this year. OSU offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick called Davis out on one of the since-deleted posts, writing “You don’t play here.”The Buckeyes take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the national championship game on Monday, Jan.
