We’re not playing around — these baby names are going extinct.A new report from BabyCenter revealed the monikers and nicknames that will likely fall out of favor for Generation Beta babies.For starters, names associated with the royals — Catherine, Anne, Edward, Albert and Phillip — have dropped by more than 100 spots on baby name lists, with Catherine plummeting more than 200 spots.Meanwhile, monikers from the ’80s and ’90s are also decreasing in use, such as the name Jamie, which was once wildly popular before the 21st century and is now the “top-falling girl name” of the last year.Katie, Remy, Liv and Analia are also among the girl names that are falling fastest as 2025 ushers in Generation Beta.“Millennial girl names” — like Chelsea, Kelsey, Erin and Alexis — are also falling in popularity, according to BabyCenter.The site also reported that Jamal tops the list for the “fastest falling names” for baby boys, falling more than 400 spots.The moniker was followed by Esteban, Cannon, Emery and Taylor as the boy names decreasing in popularity, while names that end in “-aden,” like Jaden, are also on the decline.Some nicknames are not safe from this trend, either.“Liv,” an abbreviation for the popular moniker Olivia, has fallen more than 250 spots, while “Billy,” short for William, plunged over 160 places.BabyCenter — who analyzed baby name popularity and looked at which monikers saw the steepest decline from the year prior — also revealed the names expected to grow in popularity in 2025, with many remaining the same from 2023.For baby girls, Olivia, Amelia, Emma, Sophia and Charlotte are the most loved monikers, and for boys, Noah, Liam, Oliver, Elijah and Mateo came out on top.And, for the first time in BabyCenter history, Walker, Bennett, Adriel, Ember and Oakley cracked the top 100 names, pushing out past favorites like Kayden, Dominic, Aaron, Eva, Jasmine and Sarah....
