Search underway for father and son fishermen after boat went missing in unfavorable conditions

The US Coast Guard on Sunday resumed the search for a father-and-son pair of fishermen who went missing off the coast of Maine in “unfavorable sea conditions.”Chester Barret and his son, Aaron, were out in a 34-foot scallop boat “Sudden Impact” on Saturday when they hit foul weather and never returned to port, News Center Maine reported.The two departed Cobscook Bay State Park around 5 a.m.Saturday and headed out to sea, but still hadn’t returned by 5 p.m.

Worried relatives called the Coast Guard — which joined multiple agencies to launch a search of the waters about two hours later.According to a Maine Department of Marine Resources, the men apparently planned to seek refuge in Cutler amid worsening weather conditions but it soon became “unreachable.”The search was suspended late Saturday due to poor visibility but resumed Sunday, with rescue boats and aircraft in the mix with Maine Marine Patrol, Canadian Coat Guard, Maine Forestry Service and other agencies taking part, the outlet reported....
