A Colorado man was shot early Saturday when he checked on his brother’s apartment after a security camera alert — and ran straight into an armed robber who pulled the trigger and ran away. The 25-year-old shooting victim lives in the same Thornton apartment complex on East 104th Avenue as his brother, who wasn’t home at the time, ABC 7 Denver reported. But when the security system warned the absent brother about movement outside his unit around 2:40 a.m., he called and asked his sibling to check it out.The unidentified victim walked into the home and saw the suspect, who quickly pulled a gun, squeezed off at least one round and took off with unnamed valuables, the Thornton Police Department said. Authorities rushed him to the hospital, and he is expected to survive.
The suspect, meanwhile, is still on the lam after the frightful encounter. The security camera captured photos of the shooter, who was last seen wearing a black mask, gray sweatpants, a black sweatshirt and what looked like a black puffy vest.Police believe it’s an isolated incident, but have asked anyone with information to call the Thornton Police Department tip line at 720-977-5069....
